The Center for European Studies and the Center for American Studies invite you to participate in the National Scientific Conference entitled "Problems and challenges of sociology, resocialization and the penitentiary system."
WHEN?
The conference will be held on Friday, November 9, 2024, between 4:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The exact length of the conference depends on the number of speakers. In the event of a high number of applications, we reserve the right to extend the conference also to Saturday, November 10, 2024.
WHAT IS THE CONFERENCE ABOUT?
The main assumption of the Conference is to create a platform for a broad and interdisciplinary discussion on existing problems and future challenges related to the areas of sociology, social rehabilitation and the penitentiary system.
The conference is a platform for the unrestricted exchange of experiences, views and research between young and experienced scientists, professionals and practitioners.
We will address the issues of the Conference from both theoretical and practical perspectives. We will take into account both contemporary and historical perspectives. Speeches may concern issues from Poland, Europe and the rest of the world.
Proposed (example) thematic areas:
✓ Sociology of small and large groups
✓ Social challenges of the 21st century
✓ Reforms of the penitentiary system
✓ Resocialization of prisoners
✓ Prison sociology
✓ Recidivism
✓ Social changes and crime
✓ Legal and ethical issues

✓ Social support and families of prisoners
✓ New technologies in the penitentiary system
✓ Comparative analysis of penitentiary systems

Moreover, the presentations may be interdisciplinary in nature, combining various fields of science.
We believe in freedom of academic discussion and do not censor speeches for ideological or political reasons. Original and unique speeches will always be appreciated by the Scientific Committee.
