Dear Sirs,
The Center for American and the Center for European Studies invite you to participate in the 2nd National Scientific Conference entitled "State, Law, Culture and Society in Christian Thought".
WHEN?
The conference will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 between 4:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The length of the conference depends on the number of speakers. In the event of a high number of applications, we reserve the right to extend the conference to Saturday, July 19, 2025.
WHAT IS THE CONFERENCE ABOUT?
The main assumption of the conference is to discuss the broadly understood Christian approach to the state, law, culture and society.
We will analyze issues such as: lawmaking in accordance with the Bible, religious and secular state, separation or unification of Church and State, tradition versus progress, the attitude of the church to the cultural revolution or the influence of religion on society.
Presentations may concern problems of both historical and contemporary nature.
Speakers can also present critical positions.
SUGGESTED (EXAMPLE) TOPIC AREAS
• Christian roots of contemporary law and legal systems
• The influence of Christian ethics on the development of legal systems
• The relationship between religion and state in Christian thought: separation of church and state, theocracy and other models
• Christian ethics and political ethics: moral principles and political decisions
• Human rights in a Christian perspective: foundations and limitations in theological thought
• Christianity and intercultural dialogue: the role of religion in building bridges between different communities and cultures
• Catholic social teaching and its influence on the development of social and economic policy
• Spirituality and religiosity in public life: how Christian values influence culture and society
• Political theology: interpretations of the relationship between God and politics in history
• Challenges of contemporary society to traditional Christian values
• Interreligious dialogue and contemporary global challenges: the role of Christian communities in dialogue with other religions in the context of crises and conflicts
• And many more!
The above-mentioned thematic areas are only examples – we strongly encourage you to go beyond them. Presentations may be interdisciplinary, combining various experiences and fields of science.
We believe in the freedom of academic discussion and do not censor presentations for ideological or political reasons.
Original and unconventional presentations will always be appreciated by the Scientific Committee.
