EVENT DESCRIPTION
XXVI Scientific Congress of the Polish Diabetes Association
On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the XXVI Congress of the Polish Diabetes Association, we cordially invite you to Krakow, a special city on the map of Poland, Europe, and the world. Krakow is over a thousand years of history, for over half a millennium the capital of Polish kings and princes, the seat of our oldest university and the beating heart of Polish culture and science. Great Poles were born, worked or found their final resting place under Wawel: Stanisław of Szczepanów, Casimir the Great, Jadwiga of Anjou, Nicolaus Copernicus, Tadeusz Kościuszko, Józef Piłsudski, Karol Wojtyła, Polish Nobel Prize winners and many others. Great events took place in Krakow, which are written down in the pages of history: the founding of the bishopric in the year one thousand, the martyrdom of St. Stanisław, the unification of the state symbolized by the coronation of Władysław the Elbow-high, the Prussian Homage, the oath of the Uprising Leader; independence was born here, and the future Pope John Paul II traveled to the conclave from here. Thousands of other events also took place in this city, which you would look for in vain in textbooks, and which made up the life of our nation, creating its scientific and cultural achievements. The congress of our society should be counted among them.
The XXVI Congress of the Polish Diabetes Association will be an opportunity to meet several thousand people, scientists, doctors and people from other professions, who take an active part in diabetological research and provide care for 3 million diabetics in our country. We would like to emphasize that our Congress will be honored by the presence of an exceptionally wide range of distinguished foreign guests, which confirms the growing importance of Polish diabetology in the world. We hope that you will leave Krakow not only enriched with knowledge, but also with a baggage of beautiful memories,
