5th National Scientific Conference "Addictions and Law, Psychology and Social Sciences"
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Center for European Studies and the Center for American Studies invite you to participate in the 5th National Conference on "Addictions and Law, Psychology, and Social Sciences".
When?
The conference will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2025, between 9:00 and 16:00 online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The exact length of the conference depends on the number of speakers. In the event of a high number of applications, we reserve the right to extend the congress to Sunday, March 30, 2025.
What is the conference about?
Sex? Drugs? Alcohol? Pornography? Work? The Internet?
That's not all. Addictions have been an element of social life since the dawn of humanity and - as can be expected - will accompany us until its end.
How does the law relate to them? What does psychology and other sciences about man and society tell us about them?
The main objective of the conference is to discuss addictions from an interdisciplinary perspective, using legal, psychological, political, economic, sociological and cultural research tools.
Proposed (example) thematic areas:
• Sex, alcohol, drugs, pornography (and others) and the law
• Addictions in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic
• Addictions and social distancing
• Treatment and therapies for various addictions in Poland and around the world
• Types of addictions and their symptoms, as well as individual and general social effects
• Mental disorders caused by addictions
• Alcoholism and drug addiction in the home and family
• Workaholism in modern societies
• and much more!
The above thematic areas are only examples - we strongly encourage you to go beyond them.
In addition, the presentations may be interdisciplinary in nature, combining various fields of science.
Note: the presentations do not have to be comparative in nature - speakers may discuss issues related to only *one* of the selected areas.
We believe in freedom of academic discussion and do not censor speeches for ideological or political reasons.
Original and unconventional speeches will always be appreciated by the Scientific Committee.

• We cordially invite students and PhD students, experienced researchers, as well as all other people interested in the conference topics to actively participate in the conference.
• Passive participation does not require any scientific qualifications.
