5th International Scientific Conference "Sexuality and law, psychology and social sciences"
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The Center for American Studies and the Center for European Studies invite you to participate in the 5th International Scientific Conference entitled: "Sexuality and law, psychology and social sciences."
When?
The conference will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2025, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. online on the Microsoft Teams platform.
The length of the conference depends on the number of speakers. In the event of a high number of applications, we reserve the right to extend the conference to Sunday, January 19, 2025.
What is the Conference about?
The main goal of the conference is a discussion on the broadly understood issue of sexuality through the prism of social sciences and humanities (law, psychology, sociology, cultural studies, political science, philosophy, history, anthropology, and - which may come as a surprise to some - economics).
The conference organizers are also open to presentations devoted to sexuality from the perspective of medicine and health sciences.
Speeches may refer to both contemporary and historical issues.
Proposed (exemplary) thematic areas?
• legal regulations interfering with human sexuality in the legal systems of selected countries (in the past and today)
• non-heteronormativity – legal, political, psychological and cultural aspects
• sexual crime
• issues of sexual and gender discrimination
• sexual disorders in children, adolescents and adults
• gender roles in the cultures of selected societies
• history of sexuality
• norms and customs regarding sexuality in the cultures of selected societies (past and present)
• marketization of sexuality
• sexuality in mass media and advertising
• sexuality in art (film, music, sculpture, painting)
• sexuality in medicine and health sciences
The thematic areas indicated above are examples only - we strongly encourage you to go beyond their framework. Moreover, the presentations may be interdisciplinary in nature, combining various fields of science.
We believe in freedom of academic discussion and do not censor speeches for ideological or political reasons. Original and unique speeches will always be appreciated by the Scientific Committee.
For whom?
• We cordially invite students and PhD students, experienced researchers, practitioners, as well as all other people interested in the conference topics to actively participate in the conference.
• Passive participation does not require any scientific qualifications.
Conference language:
Speeches may be given in the following languages:
• Polish
• English
• Ukrainian
The conference panels (sessions) will be arranged according to the above-mentioned languages.
